Methodology

Before describing the PMBK (Project Management Body of Knowledge) are applied it is necessary to briefly outline the context under which Project Management endeavor is undertaken, and how the composite picture is integrated into the whole activity. First it must be acknowledged that there are two primary processes interacting with each other. There is a Project Management process, and there is a Product Development process. Both of these processes are interlinked, and sometimes overlap.

The Product Development process has been described in the proposal�s Development Methodology section. A brief outline of our Project Management process will be described here.

Typically there will be five steps, initiating process, planning process, executing process, controlling process, and a closing process. The initiating process is where we will begin the development of a Project Plan, recognizing that a project has been committed and necessary steps have to be taken to ensure its delivery and closure satisfactory to the customer. In the planning process we will do the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and using tools such as Microsoft Project we will baseline the timeline and milestones. In the executing process we will monitor the project and track progress and do whatever is necessary to move the project along its path to completion.

In the controlling process the results of the monitoring action will be examined for corrective actions to meet project objectives. In the closing process we will ensure that the project has been completed and all the necessary paperwork, record keeping etc are all completed and if necessary a post project review scheduled.
